Well, we knew it was going to be tough against an unbeaten top of the league.
Right from the off Repton stepped high and applied pressure. Some sterling work in defense by player of the match Laura Beacon, Michelle Tanser, Gracie Gault, and Stacy Hall kept them at bay for the first 20mins.
We did get some glimpses of play as our mids and forwards worked tirelessly to get the ball quickly down the wings. Gault on the left side feeding Charlie James and Harriet Goswell, Hall getting the ball to Emma Storey and Meg Forader on the right. One of these advances getting us a short corner. But James' good effort was expertly saved by the outstretched leg of the Repton Keeper.
The second half started as the first finished as Kettering struggled to find any rhythm.
A few lapses in concentration allowed the Repton players some reverse stick goals. We also had to try to defend some short corners and Cath Irvin and Hall on the posts did a great job to keep the score line from increasing further, as well as Nik Baker making some good saves in goal.
Again we did get some flashes of good play down the wings and through Irvin and Imogen Smith in the center mid position who tried to switch the ball and spread play into space.
On the day we were outclassed by a very good team who will most likely keep winning until they reach the premier division.
But Kettering again showing resilliance and did not stop fighting until the end, which is a quailty we can be proud of.
