Kettering started the new year with a good win over Cambridge South 3s. The game started strong with a goal from Ellie slotted into the back of the net to put Kettering up in the first 3 minutes. Kettering continued to dominate with possession by moving the ball across the pitch, yet we couldn’t score. Kettering were close, yet the Cambridge keeper denied us our second in the first half. The half-time talk consisted of maintaining shape and continuing to push. The second goal came from Isla running along the base line and crossing the ball to Ilana who finished the goal beautifully on the lefthand post. Kettering continued to build momentum from the back with Molly, Gracie and Michelle distributing from the back. Opportunities were created as Connie and Issy drove into the D supported by Katie and Eva. The third goal came from a short corner as Connie collected the second ball to seal the 3-0 win. Kettering were able to finish the game with a clean sheet with Sophie making some great saves when Kettering were caught on the back foot due to a counter attack. We begin the new year with a win and hope to continue our this for the rest of the season. There was a joint man of the match between, Ellie for her fabulous goal and tireless running, Cath for her strong shots and great play building and Isla for her goal assist and supporting attacking play.
