After a couple of disappointing results, Kettering found their mojo to win 6-2 against Bourne Deeping. After a warm up consisting of line dancing and tunes, Kettering were fully prepped to go out and smash it. After the first ten minutes, Kettering knew they must bring their A game. However, Bourne Deeping were first to add a goal to the score sheet after Kettering failed to clear the ball in the D. Yet Kettering were quick to respond with a great goal from Eva Carson. Bourne Deeping weren’t going down without a fight and scored another goal with a counterattack. Before half a time, Kettering were able to respond with Georgie Jones, returning with a fabulous goal after great link up play throughout midfield between Ellie Darnell, Connie Shingles and Ilana Jacobs. With the score sheet level, Kettering were determined to have the lead going into the second half and this was achieved as Connie Shingles scored in the 35th minute from a short corner. The half time chat consisted of maintaining the high intensity and preventing Bourne Deeping from responding. The defence were successful as Katie Woolveridge, Michelle Tanser, Gracie Gault and Isla Harvey made timly takles and with Sophie Tomlinson making some strong saves and controlling her D. Kettering were able to build on their lead with the second half being Ellie Darnell’s half as she scored her hatrick. The first goal was the result of a team effort with link up play between Rose Starsmore-Young and Georgia Brophy to set Ellie Darnell up for her classic turn and slid the ball between the keepers legs. Ellie’s second goal was a fab deflection from Georgie’s shot. The third coming after some excellent play between Lucy Tanser and Ellie, who shot the ball bottom right to seal the win and get her second hat trick of the season. Great bounce back from Kettering 1s and on to the next for hopefully a much needed win. Man of the match went to Ellie for her superb performance and terrific hatrick to help kettering to come back with a bang! Also, a shout out to Ellie for her heroic moment of running onto the pitch with the first aid bag to come to Michelle’s rescue.
