A week of availability issues meant our fixture vs Edgbaston had to change to a later fixture, a rematch of last Saturday vs Leicester.
We played quarters to give a bit more coaching time. The first quarter we dominated, getting plenty of chances on goal. Their keeper coming to their rescue quite a few times. One of the best chances fell to Sophie Richardson who, with no space at the top of the D, managed to get a cracking hit off which only narrowly missed the far side of the goal.
As the game wore on Leicester put on more of their stronger players, having 4 players that had played for their first team earlier that day come along to help them out with numbers. In the 3rd quarter the first mistake of the game, a missed interception at the top of the D allowed one of these players a free hit resulting in a well placed goal.
In the 4th quarter a misplaced pass from a 16, and only our second mistake of the game allowed Leicester another free hit on goal which again was expertly placed in the corner by one of Leicester's stronger players.
We take great pride in the fact that we dominated a good portion of the game and only when fatigue set in and our 2 mistakes happened did we look vulnerable. Cath Irvin, our player of the match was always in the right place and the right time to stop Leicester attacking quickly and to support our forwards going forward.
We will be raring to go when the league games starts.
