Who is where with 2 games to go?

Who is where with 2 games to go?

Barry Coe17 Mar - 14:37

Lots to play for with 2 games to go starting with some big games at Fortress Bishop on Saturday.

We are at the business end of the season so for those that don’t follow other teams in the club (and those that do) here’s what’s what with two weekends to go.

Ladies 1
Have clearly hit a bit of form at the right time. Last 5 games won 3 but still need to win on Saturday to be safe and a draw might be good enough. They play Camb South who are one place below them in the table. The week after both teams play promotion hunting teams. They’d love to see as many people there on Saturday 1pm start.

Ladies 2
A bad result last week, 0-1 to Camb South 4s means it’s still all to play for at the foot of Div3NW. Really they could with one more win. Away to Camb Uni on Saturday and Long Sutton at home the week after. You really never know what you are going to get with one of Shez’s teams.

Ladies 3
Div 5NW is a complete mystery. We appear to be 3rd, just, with three games in hand. If anyone can work out what’s is going on please let us know. All we do know is that the L3 have had their best season in years and it all seems to be going swimmingly. Well done all and let’s finish on a high. They start proceedings on Saturday at 10am against St Neots.

Mens 1s
What a game this promises to be on Saturday. Win v Bourne and promoted. Draw and it goes to the last game. Lose and Bourne are promoted. Be there !! 230 start for what promises to be an absolute belter and the lads would welcome any support.

Mens 2s
Six points clear of 3rd with 2 to play so only a point required. Away to Pelicans who can, in theory, catch the 2s but they play Camb Uni last game of the season so realistically won’t win that. It would be nice to get it done this weekend as the last weekend it’s the 2s v3s clash. The 2s have moved between free flowing and attritional but have got the job just about done when it mattered.

Mens 3s
It’s a must win game against basement boys Wisbech this weekend as loser is relegated.A draw offers a glimmer of hope for Kettering but Wisbech would be down. A win means they need a point as it’s hard to see March beating Cam Uni and Spalding at home are a decent outfit. Kettering’s goal difference is worth a point. In a the East league most dominated by drawn games a goal here or there absolutely makes a huge difference. 1130 at home on Saturday - cheer Mike’s men on as they start the big triple header home game shootout.

Mens 4s
Similar to the Ladies 3s this league is a mystery regarding league positions but we’re quite near the top. Captain Stu has done a brilliant job of getting loads of people to play (we are running out of shirt numbers Stu!) both newcomers and youngsters. We could run 5 teams next year but need someone to step up and take the reins. If you fancy it ask Stu or any of the committee for what it entails. (Pitches, umpires etc are all sorted out for you). They play 4pm on Saturday in what looks like a combined friendly with Camb South 7ths.
